About us:
Aeva’s mission is to bring the next wave of perception to a broad range of applications from automated driving to industrial robotics, consumer electronics, consumer health, security, and beyond. Aeva is transforming autonomy with its groundbreaking sensing and perception technology that integrates all key LiDAR components onto a silicon photonics chip in a compact module. Aeva 4D LiDAR sensors uniquely detect instant velocity in addition to 3D position, allowing autonomous devices like vehicles and robots to make more intelligent and safe decisions.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a LiDAR Systems Architect with a strong background in systems engineering and hands-on experience with sensor technology. This role involves analyzing customer and stakeholder requirements, developing system-level models, and leading the design and integration of LiDAR sensor systems. The ideal candidate will be a systems engineering expert capable of translating high-level requirements into functional and detailed specifications while overseeing system development and testing.
What you'll do:
- Requirements Analysis: Analyze and interpret customer and stakeholder requirements to define system-level specifications for LiDAR sensor architecture.
- System Modeling and Design: Develop and validate system models that simulate LiDAR functionality and optimize performance metrics.
- Sensor Development and Integration: Provide hands-on expertise with the sensor hardware and software to analyze system-level issues.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with hardware, software, and algorithm development teams, lead technical discussions, and contribute to design reviews
- Systems Engineering Practices: Apply systems engineering principles, including requirements traceability, risk management, and verification and validation planning, throughout the project lifecycle.
- Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system specifications, architecture diagrams, and test plans.
What you'll have:
- Master’s or PhD in a relevant field with 3+ years of experience in systems engineering with a focus on LiDAR, radar, or optical sensor technologies.
- Proficiency in systems modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, SysML, or similar).
- Experience with sensor calibration, validation, and testing procedures.
- Familiarity with software development, control systems, and embedded systems.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to work in cross-functional teams, and strong analytical thinking.
- Experience interacting with customers and other stakeholders in collecting and distilling requirements
- Preferred: Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to autonomous systems (ISO 26262, ASPICE).
What's in it for you:
- Be part of a fast-paced and dynamic team
- Very competitive compensation and meaningful stock grants
- Exceptional benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and more
- Unlimited PTO: We care about results, not punching timecards
